HOW TO CLEAN THE MICROWAVE

Frequency:

  • Quick clean - weekly
  • Deep clean - monthly or seasonly

Quick clean:
  1. Heat a jug or bowl of water containing 1 cup (250 ml) or water and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar on high for 3 to 5 minutes until steamy. You can replace vinegar with one lemon cut into wedges.
  2. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow the steam to loosen grime and food residue.
  3. Open the microwave - caution, it's hot and steamy! Carefully remove the hot jug (tip: wear oven mitts) and pour the hot vinegar solution down the sink, which will freshen the drains at the same time.
  4. Carefully remove the hot turn plate and wash in the sink with soapy water and let dry.
  5. Wipe the inside of the microwave with a damp sponge or cloth, then wipe the outside, front of the door and keypad.
  6. Finish by wiping over with a dry, clean cloth.
Deep clean:
  1. Unplug the microwave and move to another spot.
  2. Wipe the electrical cord with a dry cloth to remove dust.
  3. Wipe the shelf with a damp cloth to remove food crumbs and dirt, finish with a dry cloth.
  4. For a deep microwave clean, use a mini brush (a toothbrush is handy for this) to remove crumbs and food bits in the crevices of the microwave.
  5. Clean the interior and exterior of the microwave using the above steps for a quick clean.
  6. Return the microwave to the shelf and you're all done!

HOW TO CLEAN THE AIR FRYER

Frequency:

  • Quick clean - as soon as possible after each use
  • Deep clean - weekly

Quick clean:
  1. Unplug and allow air fryer to cool.
  2. Take out air fryer tray and tip out any crumbs and food bits.
  3. Place tray in sink and soak in dishwashing liquid and hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Optional: add bicarb soda or vinegar to the mix for extra oomf.
  4. Rinse with water.
  5.  For stubborn stains, gently wash with a sponge or cloth. For mesh, a toothpick helps. Avoid abrasive scrubbers.
  6. Air dry or towel dry.
  7.  Wipe the inside and outside of the air fryer with a damp cloth
Deep clean:
  1. Unplug the air fryer and move to another spot.
  2. Wipe the electrical cord with a dry cloth to remove dust.
  3. Wipe the shelf with a damp cloth to remove food crumbs and dirt, finish with a dry cloth.
  4. For stubborn grease, add hot water, 2 tablespoons of dish soap and 1/4 cup of vinegar or bicarb soda to air fryer tray, then "fry" at 100 deg C for 10 minutes to steam clean.
